The Bias on what news can be is in six different forms:1.Selection and Omission2.Placement3.Headlines4.Photos, Captions and Camera angels5.Names and Titles6.Choice of words. Here is a brief description of all of them in short.

1. An editor can chose what they put up in each news story.2.Where a story is put to influence what a person thinks.3.To give out the wrong idea of just how the words are placed.4.A picture can give out the wrong impression like the headlines can do.5.They use this to give out false information to miss lead us.6.The way they use this is by putting in a way that makes it seem that we geting the best but they can make it seem like were the bad guys.

Documentary Mini Task

Documentary Mini Task

A documentary is an umbrella term used in Television and Film, which can be interpreted into different styles or forms. It can either presented as a document or a record of reality.

The key features of an expository documentary would be, you would have to have an authoritative voiceover which is disembodied and addresses the audience directly. It tells what is happening and is accompanied by images. The voiceover provides 'captions' for the images through facts and arguments. The images are supposed to compliment the voiceover also while being informative or descriptive. The expository documentary is one of objectivity which means it's direct and has a transparent representation. This means it's predominant.

Example of Expository Documentary:

The key features of an observational documentary would be, that it presents a slice of life through depictions and unobtrusive construction. The filmmaker is presented as an uninvolved bystander so the audience doesn't realise they are involved. They are hidden from the audience completely. They don't focus on what is contained more of what is not, for example the commentary, the intertitles or even the interviews. It is presented as a transparent record, which means the events involved are neutral and non-judgemental. Finally the audience then gets to decide what they are going to decode information from the text/documentary.

The key features of an interactive documentary would be, the filmmaker is present within the documentary. There is also interaction between the interviewees, the presenter and the audience of course. The agendas are usually presented as arguments. Also when editing manipulation is more evident then. The editing is sometimes criticised as people see it as misrepresentation or manipulation, the filmmakers always defend it though, as the projected image is pursued as more important than the finer details.

The key features of a reflexive documentary would be, the filmmaker would try to expose the types of conventions of documentary to the audience. The way the documentary texts are used are exposed and experimented with. The text will consist shots that expose 'everyday life' they are used as the foundation as to make vastly different and experimental films.

They use re-enactments and exaggerated camera shots along with soundtracks to submerge the audience into a form of diegesis. They try to present the subject in a documentary in a subjective, expressive evocative or visceral manner.

Compulsion Evaluation

                                                                   Compulsion Evaluation

What went well?
The editing went well as we were able to do it as a group we had to make sure that each scene was in sync with one-another and it seems that we were able to achieve it.

What didn't go well?
The filming of the scenes. Some of them seemed to be out of focus at certain points in the depict film. The footage took ages to upload onto the mac and we didn't have enough time to get all the pre-production paperwork finished.

What would need to be improved?
Re-shoot the scenes and finish all the pre-production paperwork for the re submission.

TV Advert Evaluation

TV Advert Evaluation

What went well?
The filming went quite well as we were able to establish some well developed establishing shots for the TV Advert.

What didn't go well?
The editing for the TV advert didn't go as well as we hoped. Some of the shots did not correspond with one-another which mad the video un-synced at certain times throughout.

What would need to be improved?
Our editing. It needs to be looked at thoroughly.  Changes need to be made the the colour, texture and lighting for the scenes in the documentary.

The Pre-Production Process

The Pre-Production Process

There are so many different types of videos and film types for example there are full feature films, TV, music and ads. They have loads of different ways to distribute quality entertainment to the public. Those different ways to distribute are via blue ray, YouTube or screenings at the cinema or on TV.

With the type of funding that exist for the film, TV and moving images industry. People think there are a lot but not many are willing to partake with certain industries. Here are a few as an example, Private capital loans, sponsors and grant funds.

The requirements for any film are that you will need equipment a cast and crew. Any talents that are needed front or back talents are needed to budget themselves so that we didn’t go over or need more money, they will also need refreshments as well as a place to stay for the night if they need to shoot more than one scene at that location or other locations in the area, they will also need props and marketing as well as the copyright licences to use a certain music or lines sang or said by famous people.

For our short film we had to do is gather together the talent, props (knife, blood, paint), camera, costumes (the clothes we wore that day/s), road mic (boom mic), permission from the people we were filming, free music from different sites the music was called royal free copyright music.
For personal we had three main talent and a couple back talent a camera personal and the person that got all the props the way we accolated to these positions was the person who’s idea it was and I don’t know if the other people in the group and the back talents if they had any expenses before that filming but I did not.

For the making of different types of films or TV programs (e.g. low budget to Hollywood producers) there are different types of casts for a low budget, the cast is small and they only consist of about 5 to 10 people like cluck’s. For a TV program they can have any amount of people between 20 to over 100 depending on how long the programme is running like iZombie and a Hollywood production can have a cast of about 30 people and more like the movie Antman.

For the media text there are lots of different people who work on a movie except from the crew there are back talents, writers and even the makeup artists. These are only a few of the people who work on a big film and but even though they only play a small part in the production they have a big impact on the movie. Without them the film would not be able to go on.

Our timeline was only 6 weeks two was for pre-production two was for filming and two was for editing we handed the timeline well but we went over by a week because the per-production took longer than we anticipated so we missed the original dead line but it was extended by 2 weeks as not everyone was finished which meant the it ran into TV Advert.

For the equipment you can gather all sorts of professionally styled equipment from different sites like hire camera or you can rent from shops or websites. The equipment that was available for use to use was a DLSR camera, tripod, road microphone, SD card and this equipment was all available from the colleges av room.
For the location there are different type of forms they are recces and releases the recces are to scout out the area and who to contact and what types of accommodations are there where the release is to say you can use that location. We picked the docks and the college because it fit our critter for the film of brother on opposite sides. The risks we faced was falling down the hill and tripping up in college so we checked the area before filming.

For a production you need different types of materials, the materials you require are props, software, music, sound, effect, lights, stock footage, set decision and credits and title. For the financial consecration is how much can we spend and then make back on the movie without losing out and how much will each materials will cost.

With legal considerations we will have to think about copyright and permission for use of ground. Whit copyright you can get done if you have use someone’s production without getting permission from them first and land with a fine or maybe put in prison but only if they sue you. The way that copyright affected our depict work is that we couldn’t use some music that we wanted to use. With copyright it has three things that manly need concerns Clearance which means having permission to use like in a move using a logo on cloths. Public Liabity insurance means that you are coved from copyright so you can use something that has a copyright on it and not be done. Completion guarantee/insurance means the whole film is coved no matter what so you could add in some music and not get done.
A regulatory body is a government agency responsible for exercising independent authority over some area of human activity supervisory capacity. There is a regulator called Ofcom which dose the communications in the UK. It function is to regulate TV and radio sectors also fix line telecoms, mobiles, postal services and the airwaves over which devices operate. The bbc is regulated by the Oft instead of the Ofcom and the reason this is different from the Ofcom is because it is outside bodies. The bbfc is UK's regulator of film and video it provides age ratings they also have power to cut or reject a project.

A trade union is an organized association of workers formed to protect and further their rights and interests. Trade associations organization founded and funded by businesses that operate in a specific industry. They are important because they can keep the rights of what they have to protect otherwise anyone would be able to get away with copyright. Pact is the name given t the neigh hood meeting that forms structurer for Neighbourhood Policing. Bectu is a trade union in the uk. They do Broadcasting entitlement cinematograph and theatre.
